Emmanuel Aweperi Adiba
Founder · Full-stack engineer
Bolgatanga, Upper East
I am Emmanuel Aweperi Adiba. I build software, and I import and sell the hardware that people here need in order to use it. Portforge is the registered name over both, and it is one person: me.
I write the code for GearDockGH and ImportBrain, place the orders with suppliers, meet the goods when they clear, and answer the phone when something goes wrong. Nothing here is subcontracted to a team that does not exist.
Registering the business was not a formality. It is the difference between a person selling gadgets on WhatsApp and a company a supplier can extend credit to.
Why Bolgatanga
The Upper East is not a compromise. It is the position.
Almost every technology company in Ghana operates from Accra, and serves the north as an afterthought — a longer delivery window, a courier handoff, a phone number that rings in a different region.
Being here means the gap is not something I read about. I know how long a parcel takes to reach Bolgatanga, which payment habits are real, and what it costs to be wrong. Stock sits in this town, so delivery is measured in hours instead of a week of hope.
Costs are lower here, attention is scarcer, and the customers are underserved. That is a reasonable place to build from, not a limitation to apologise for.

Working with Portforge
Portforge takes a small number of outside engineering engagements each year. If you have something specific in mind, write and describe it.
Talent
Not hiring yet. If you build things in the Upper East, say hello anyway.
